Scope: Onboard PIDS, System Integration, and Commissioning

Overview
This project involved replacing the existing Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) on five KL Monorail trains to match the specifications of the newly delivered monorail fleet.
The upgrade ensured system compatibility, consistent passenger information display, and seamless communication with the central Operation Control Center (OCC).
My Role
I was responsible for the design, installation, wiring, and cabling of the onboard PIDS equipment, ensuring proper integration with existing onboard and wayside systems.
I prepared and reviewed technical design documents, including Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals, Training Manuals, Method of Statement (MOS), and Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) documentation.
I conducted hands-on installation, developed and executed Pre-Installation & Commissioning (PICO) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures, and validated system performance before final handover.
Additionally, I conducted training sessions, including Train-the-Trainer programs, for the client’s engineering team to ensure smooth transition and operational readiness.
I also participated in stakeholder meetings and decision-making discussions, representing the engineering team on system design, installation methods, and project progress.
Outcome
- Successfully replaced and commissioned onboard PIDS across five monorail trains, achieving full synchronization with the new fleet system.
- Improved passenger information reliability and display accuracy through optimized design, testing, and corrective action tracking via FRACAS.
- Delivered complete technical documentation (Design, O&M, Training, FRACAS) and facilitated successful knowledge transfer to the client’s technical staff.
- Achieved alignment among multiple stakeholders through technical meetings and comment-closure workshops.
