Scope: Wayside and Onboard Communication Systems

Overview
The Kuching Urban Transport System (KUTS) is Sarawak’s first Hydrogen-powered Autonomous Rapid Transit (H2V) project — a pioneering initiative aimed at introducing sustainable, modern, and integrated public transport to the state.
The project covers the design and implementation of communication and passenger information systems for both wayside and onboard components. This includes Public Address (PA), Passenger Information Display System (PIDS), Train Emergency Telephones (TET), and CCTV systems, ensuring reliable passenger communication, safety, and operational monitoring across all stations and vehicles.
My Role
I was responsible for preparing, reviewing, and submitting all technical documentation to the client, including Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Final Design Review (FDR), Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, Training Manual, and test procedures for FAT, SIT, and SAT.
I led coordination meetings and technical workshops with stakeholders to review designs, close comments, and ensure compliance with project standards.
Additionally, I prepared and reviewed system schematic drawings, mechanical layouts, and onboard CCTV coverage designs using EASE acoustic simulation software. I was also involved in developing the detailed design packages for wayside and onboard communication subsystems.
Outcome
- Delivered complete and approved documentation sets for PDR, FDR, O&M, and testing phases.
- Achieved alignment among multiple stakeholders through technical meetings and comment-closure workshops.
- Strengthened system integration readiness for both wayside and H2V onboard systems.
